Just the little things in life...

Its amazing how one day we wake up and we start realizing how much life has to offer.

Spring is getting here and each day the sun shines, it makes me happy that spring has finally gotten here. I have always been a winter person, but I have not been used to dealing with winters up here in Columbus. This is my second one and, thank goodness I am not affected, I see why people are so grumpy in this town! The winter zaps all the happiness right out of people!

Regardless, I have started appreciating the smaller things in life. Each time I go to the Franklin Park Conservatory for a walk, I take in the beauty that the grounds hold, not only from the way its set up, but the way nature comes together and shows us how truly beautiful she is, is remarkable.

In the spirit of appreciating the small things, I have always valued friendship above all in my life. I am deeply humbled by their presence in my life and appreciate each minute I am able to spend with them.

I just felt like being sappy and what better way to express it than on the blog!

Spring Break and a Visit from Veronica and Ashley

Wow, spring break went by FAST! It just seems like yesterday that we were planning the trip for the girls to come up and visit and just like that, they came, and they left.

The week started out by the two of them getting to the house on Saturday night. That was great, because it was Traffic Jam at Wall Street, so I decided to take them there. We met my friend Taylor there and we had a blast dancing all night! It was a good way to start the week.

Monday rolled around and we ended up going to OSU's campus to do some touring. Of course, since we were down on High Street, we started off by having some Cane's Chicken, because Veronica's favorite meal is chicken tenders and french fries. (we both are alike in so many ways!) After viewing the campus and several hours of walking, we decide to go home.

Tuesday thru Thursday, I worked, but I took the girls out for Stomper night (which is a personal view of Columbus, I know) but they had a blast. The pictures below are from that night.

And of course, they couldn't come to Columbus without seeing an awesome drag show, I got tickets to go see Nina's show "Glam Clam" and they were very happy with it. I must admit, it was a hilarious show! The pics for that are below as well.

So, overall, I think they had a good trip. I spent so much time trying to run them around town that I forgot how they just like to lay around and be lazy sometimes, but all is well. They had a great trip and I can't wait until I get to see them again!!!

Columbus Crew Game

Ok, I had never been to a soccer game before, but now I am a fan.

I get a message from my friend Jason yesterday asking if I wanted to go to a Columbus Crew game. I had never been to one and it sounded fun, so I decided to go. I was hoping I would have a good time, and I did!

He messaged me by telling me that I would love the tickets because they were in the hooligan section. My first thought was "great, a bunch of rowdy drunks." But, as the game started, it actually was the best section to be sitting in.

The game started and I watched as people in the stands started getting up and beating on drums, playing horns, cheering and generally having fun. I didn't know the cheers at first, but I ended up cheering right along with everyone. It was a fun day. I know that Melissa, Jason, and I are planning on going to as many games as we can! They are only $15 a ticket, so that isn't bad at all!

Its been a while...

So, today I am updating my blog from the last time (which was around my birthday, about 4 months ago!) So, lets get caught up on my life so far and some of the events that have happened.

December was ok. Christmas was good. We had everyone pull together and buy us gift cards to best buy and we were able to afford a big tv. I am not a size queen, but 52 inches is fine with me! We also got a Blu-Ray DVD player and it is AWESOME!!!

January started out good. I got promoted at work. I am now the MSM Prevention Coordinator. It comes with more responsibility and I am able to be creative in how I approach things. I am making lots of connections and people like my energy and drive. I think I need it to do this job. It requires me to be on my feet and that is great, but sometimes its mentally draining.

February came and went. It was our 7th anniversary. We didn't really celebrate it that much because it was just another day. We went out to dinner and such, but that was good enough. 7 years... that is a long time. I think he is stuck with me for a while. We are getting better at communication and we seem to be happier than ever. Also in February, I had a fundraising event called "Single and Bitter" that was hosted by Nina West and held by ROYGBIV. It made all my budget for the year so I don't have to do any more fundraising for my program!
And that brings us to March. March has been rough at work. More and more younger people are coming in and testing positive. We had a total of 5 so far. The hard part of the job is telling them, but I know its helping them understand where they are and how they can keep themselves healthy, while advocating to their peers about safer sex. Let's hope we can turn things around SOON!
